Loosing Weight is a Cinch!

14 09 2012

As you have probably noticed from my previous posts, I’m focusing on weight loss lately!  I will be posting pictures next week of my first month doing Cinch (Shaklee Weight Loss Program).  So far I have lost 8 pounds in 3.5 weeks!  Not only have I lost weight, but I’m loosing inches.  In fact last night was the first time in years that I have been able to put my actual wedding ring on!  It’s an amazing feeling seeing the transformation.

But not only am I loosing weight, I am starting to run more regularly.  Last week I did an 8.4 mile and a 7.1 mile run.  Both of which I felt great doing.  It has motivated me to look into doing a triathlon next spring and possibly more next year.  It’s amazing the feeling that comes from freeing yourself of the bondage which is being overweight.  I’m looking for people that have the same vision, to join with me to keep each other motivated on the path to health.  If you have already lost weight, and have some insight for the rest of us, I want you to share!  If you need help in setting goals, lets get it done!  Wherever you stand right now, if your vision is to get healthy or help others get healthy please join me and let’s start a positive trend in our country!

If you would like to join me, and help motivate each other in the quest to loose weight I’ve created a Facebook page located here.

https://www.facebook.com/CinchItUpClub

The goal of the page is to give an open forum to anyone looking to loose weight.  It will also have ideas on meals, training, products, and tools to help in your quest!  Please join me, and let’s get the weight loss revolution going as a team!

Food for Thought…….or Waist

21 08 2012

ImageAs we push along in our daily lives, what direction are we going?  Are we going in the direction that a majority of the globe is going or are we headed down a better path?  Recently at a business conference there was a lot of talk about obesity and the direction that a majority of the population is headed.  Then came a word that I think sums it up perfectly “globesity!”  Meaning that it’s not just America that is in the obesity phase it is actually a global epidemic.  Here are some statistics that could really help in opening your mind and setting you on a path to health and wellness.

In 1980 the USA was in the low 40% range for overweight people, now we are at over 65% overweight.

Also in 1980 we were around 15% obese, and now we are around 35% of the US is obese.

But, it isn’t just America that is suffering the increases, although we are the most drastic.  Here are a few other stats that are what really worry me.

Our kids age 5-17 in America!  Our Boys are 35% overweight or obese and our Girls are 35.9%.  We are only second to Greece with our kids being overweight.

Also, 5-10% of the US overall health expenditures are due to obesity.  That number will continue to grow because of health problems created from obesity!!  If you are carrying 33 extra pounds around, that can raise your risk of early death by 30%!!

So what should we do about it?  Well, diet is the answer.  But it can’t just be any diet.  Why not you ask?  Because a lot of diets help you loose weight and once you are done you gain back what you lost or more.  Why is this?  What happens when you loose weight on most of these diets is that while you are loosing fat, you are also loosing muscle.  Muscle is like your bodies fat burning furnace.  If you loose that along with the fat, then when you start to gain weight again you don’t have the fire to help combat the gain.

I have started on the Shaklee Cinch program, and here are the reasons why I’ve done so, and the hesitation I had to begin with.

1. I had to be sold on the idea of a 2 shake weight loss program. (That was a tough one)  The shakes needed to provide enough for my body so that I wasn’t hungry all day.  Done!

2. I want to loose weight in inches and pounds (fat) but keep my muscle.  The research behind the Shaklee Cinch products is astounding.  And it has been shown to burn fat, and keep muscle.

3. Needed to be backed by solid research and a solid company.  Once again, Shaklee puts a lot of money into research and it shows.  Shaklee has been around for 56 years and they continue to bring high quality products to the consumers.

4. Once I was done with the program, I move to 1 shake (breakfast) and healthy foods to maintain my weight.  Easy peesy!  Once again I don’t really eat breakfast, so this will be easily done.

These were some thoughts I had before starting.  One of the most important thing for loosing weight and keeping it off is…..changing habits.  We need to start eating healthier foods!  That usually means cooking!

Enough of my thoughts on weight loss!  I hope you find this information helpful, and if you are interested in learning some more about Shaklee Cinch go here: madsen-associated.myshaklee.com

Opening Up….To Success

26 07 2012

My thoughts today have been aimed at how everyone and anyone can become successful.  I realized that to be successful there are a few things that you must have.  I’m not talking about “the government” I’m talking about what a person needs in themselves to be successful.

Confidence is a must for success.  Knowledge is important, but not quite as important as confidence.  Drive is also very important, when you can push yourself to do what other’s might not think you can do is invaluable.  But, I started thinking that opening up, might just be one of the more important aspects of gaining success.

I don’t just mean opening up to people you are working with, or selling to, I mean opening up to the reality of success.  You have to have it built into you that you “can” be successful before you “will” be successful.  So on this Thursday afternoon, look at yourself and ask yourself if you are open to success.  If you said no, then try to figure out what can help you change that to a yes and get yourself on the road to success.  My 2 cents for the day!

Summer Joy

25 06 2012

Have you ever noticed that when it is summer, more people are smiling and seem to be enjoying life?  I mean you get that some in the spring and fall, but it just seems to me that when winter comes everyone becomes blahhh.

So what is it about summer that makes such a difference?  Is it the warmth?  The green?  The sun?  What is it?  I personally love spring, summer, and fall.  Sometimes I actually enjoy winter, but not as much.

Where am I going with this?  Well, it seems to me that with everyone in a “better” mood in the summer, that businesses would flourish at that time of year.  Like I have mentioned earlier in my blog, when we are in an upbeat mood, and happy we are more effective at our jobs.  Or does summer have a different effect on our job performance?  It is so nice outside, that you want to be out there and the knowledge that you have to work makes you depressed?

Once again, my point is that if we can find something that motivates us to be in a “great” mood our job performance, family performance, and lives in general will be more enjoyable.  So find whatever it is that makes you happy and make it work for you!

If there is one thing in this world that I absolutely love and will always put a smile on my face, it would have to be first off my family.  But also, sunsets!  Sunsets are one part of life that I can never get enough of.  We were just recently on vacation (hence the reason this blog has been sitting) and no matter where we were at the time of the sunset, I wanted to see it.  That’s just how I am, the beauty of the sun passing the horizon is something I will never get sick of and something that can motivate me from day to day!

Find what motivates you and keeps you upbeat and life in all aspects will be spectacular!
