Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure.

Wealth is Now!

24 01 2013

The best condition in life is not to be so rich as to be envied nor so poor as to be damned.

— Josh Billings

I have always felt this way!  It would be nice to have enough money to be able to enjoy travel, and some of the other fine things in life….but not too much to where people everywhere know who you are and envy your position.  I guess the challenge in life is to find happiness in your life, regardless of where you are on the scale of wealth.

It’s when we begin to envy or desire wealth or the “finer” things in life, that money becomes the root of evil.  Let’s strive to be happy with the position in life that we are facing right now.  We can strive to improve the position we are in, but don’t loose perspective and think happiness is at the next pay level.  My 2 cents today!

Life & Lifestyle

3 01 2013

When you look at those two words, what is it that comes to mind?

For me, Life represents the overall experience that we have while we are alive.  Lifestyle, represents the “things” we enjoy while we experience “life.”  So in reality they go hand in hand.  I think the real trick in life is to enjoy every minute of every day, regardless of what “lifestyle” perks you have or don’t have.  In other words be happy with where you are.  If you are trying to improve your lifestyle/life, keep it up!  But don’t let your goal, be your only happiness.  Let the journey to your goal be part of the happiness.

I know it’s easier said then done, but life is short and we need to seize every moment we can!

Thoughts or comments are always welcome!

Opening Up….To Success

26 07 2012

My thoughts today have been aimed at how everyone and anyone can become successful.  I realized that to be successful there are a few things that you must have.  I’m not talking about “the government” I’m talking about what a person needs in themselves to be successful.

Confidence is a must for success.  Knowledge is important, but not quite as important as confidence.  Drive is also very important, when you can push yourself to do what other’s might not think you can do is invaluable.  But, I started thinking that opening up, might just be one of the more important aspects of gaining success.

I don’t just mean opening up to people you are working with, or selling to, I mean opening up to the reality of success.  You have to have it built into you that you “can” be successful before you “will” be successful.  So on this Thursday afternoon, look at yourself and ask yourself if you are open to success.  If you said no, then try to figure out what can help you change that to a yes and get yourself on the road to success.  My 2 cents for the day!

Life….an Adventure!

3 05 2012

I was thinking today how sometimes our lives might seem repetitive or even boring, but the reality is that every day is a new adventure.  Yes at work we might be doing pretty much the same thing we did yesterday, and yes we might go to bed at the same time as last night, etc.  But, even though we think it is the same boring thing day after day, the reality is that it’s an adventure.

You might not see it right now.  But if you really set out to make your day interesting and fun regardless of what you are doing, you’d be surprised at how interesting it could be!  The reason I felt like bringing this up, is because I feel like sometimes in life we are a pretty negative society.  Most people when you say “work” don’t get excited or happy.  We look forward to the weekend when we have days off.  But, why does what we do to make money have to be so boring?  Is it truly that boring or are we just not happy with where we are at?  Yes sometimes work is hard, but if we can face those challenges with a positive attitude we might just begin to enjoy what we do.

I bring this up, because sometimes I get down at work.  Being self employed means that getting down at work is going to cause a big problem.  I don’t have a boss telling me what needs to be done today or tomorrow, but I have to tell myself those things.  Do you think I’m effective if I’m down on work?  No way!  So if being self employed has taught me anything, it is that we need to take every day challenges and face them like they are an adventure!  The sense of accomplishment that comes during the “hard” times is what can keep you motivated for long periods of time.  Keep your heads up, and as I stated earlier in my blog…..SMILE!  Positive attitudes and smiles are contagious and will benefit any business or life!

Smile, it works!

5 04 2012

The other day I tried something out, I smiled while shopping to see what effect it would have.  It was amazing the difference it made.  People would look at me, and (wait for it)…….smile back!  It is interesting to see the change in a person when they go from a sullen face to a smile.  It brings a sense of happiness and brightens the day.  It seems in this day and age, with our iPods, iPhones, and multiple other electronic gadgets to keep us “busy” we don’t see what life is going on around us.  So put a smile on and go see how it affects those around you.  If you are looking for signs of it’s power, you will notice that it will make a big difference not only for you, but for anyone that looks at you.

If we could all just smile instead of looking kind of like zombies, life would be more enjoyable for all of us!  And it can change our outlook on life, business, sport, etc.  Smile, it works!

Watch What You Wear

28 03 2012

Yeah, you are probably asking yourself what is this fool talking about.  Well save that question for the end of the thought and see if you would still say that.

When we talk about work or even just a day in life, there is something that can play a role in how you feel.  Your clothing.  This is nothing new to most women, because they are more concerned about appearance then most of us men.  The relation of what you wear to how you act or feel is something very powerful.  To put it in plain simple form, think about when you go on a date.  Do you get spiff’d up? Guys?  Yeah, we usually won’t wear our favorite band’s shirt, or our clothes that we work on our cars with, right!  We get into something nice, possibly even shave, and definitely brush our teeth.  You aren’t doing this just to impress the date, but you are doing it to feel more confident!  Women this applies to you too.  How do you feel about yourselves when you lounge around the house in your schlumpy clothes?  Compare that to how you feel when you get all dressed up and ready for a night out on the town.

So the reason I bring this up, it plays into the previous post about “mind games.”  Watching what you wear can give you confidence, and in turn help your mind be more sure of itself.  Clothes do matter!  It doesn’t need to be a specific brand or cost a load of money, but it needs to make you feel good about yourself.  If you don’t believe me, go out and try on some clothes that are gonna make you look really good.  When you feel good about yourself, it lifts your spirit and will allow you to accomplish things you never imagined possible.  It could improve so many aspects of your life, including family, business, friends, and most importantly self image!

So for heaven sakes people watch what you wear, and wear it with confidence!  Don’t end up looking like this, and in turn feeling like this guy does!  LOL
